Frederick,

What a wonderful portrait of this lovely girl. I love her expression and eye contact with the camera (viewer). Her skin tone is excellent. You have focused very well on her eyes. The softness of the light works very well. The background is nicely out of focus and very appropriate for this portrait. You have captured her beauty very well.

I think the blue scarf is subtle enough that it doesn't draw attention away from her face too much. It would make more sense if her eyes were blue. Often a color different that the overall tones of the image can draw the viewer's attention. The blue does kind of go with the coldness of the background.

You really don't want the stick in the lower left corner.

The compositional balance is a tad right and top heavy. It could benefit from cropping a tad off the bottom and the left side. Cropping into the "flower" on her hat bothers me a little.

If you crop off the left a bit you could remove your web address. It is appropriate to place your name and the date the photograph was made, if you wish, on a mat surrounding the photograph. Any extraneous information, like your web address would be better placed on the back of the photograph. You don't want anything to draw the viewer's attention away from your subject.

A smidgen more exposure would make the whites of her eyes even whiter (a tad gray) and perk up her skin tone. It would add a little more life to the image.

Nice shot,

Mark

I know the web address is a distraction and for years I left that out intentionally...   until I began to see my work shown by other photographers as their own.

I suppose I will try leaving it out again in the future...   thank you for the many observations...
