This is a nice show jumping shot, although f9 means the background is quite sharp. f4 (if available) may have given a little more separation between the horse and rider, and the crowd.

I enjoyed looking at your other two equine shots.

Thank you both.  Peter, you are absolutely right about the aperture,  I don't know what I was thinking.  Probably not at all.  I enjoyed your equestrian shots too, and they reminded me that there is polo played near here;  I must get over there :)

In the middle of the show, sometimes it's difficult to thing about all technical details and you only can see the result afterwards...anyway, for me, this photo is perfect because with this DOF we can feel the atmosphere of the rider and of the public at the same time...maybe it's another way to show those feelings...

Thanks again Joao;  I agree about the crowd; this is one reason I didn't crop the picture. to give the feeling of the spectacle.  I took some more yesterday, and shall have to see if a wider f stop is an improvement or not :)
