Marco, Thanks for the encouraging comment. as you know having photographed underwater yourself it can be a challenge to get a good exposure for the background at the same time as the foreground. This was one of my better attempts during a recent dive trip to the  islands around Sulawesi.

 

Svetlana, thanks, this is indeed a world of vibrant and beautiful colours.

It's always a pleasure to see the work of a truly accomplished photographer, either underwater or on dry land.. The colors and composition are superb. To my way of thinking, all photographs are in some respects abstracts and this is a beauty.

Part of the fun I am having with underwater photography is the challenge of working in an area where I have so little experience.  This type of shooting presents its own unique set of obstacles, many of which I am just beginning to figure out how to tackle.I find your comment regarding abstracts interesting. Above water I am always moving the camera or pointing the lens at moving objects. Underwater where everything is moving and the big challenge is freezing the action, I do not seem able to make myself respond to all that motion in the same fashion as i would topside. Maybe on some level I succumb to that old school philosophy that first you figure out how to do things right and then you proceed to do them wrong. My sense of composition seems to remain the same even when I am  standing on my head which I was  doing for this shot.
