Hi Anne - you captured incredible light in this image. I love the softness of the light and the depth of the colors. I tend to like my images of birds to be sharp, but in this image the softness of the loons (?) works very well. The sense of peace and quiet associated with evening is well represented. The only jarring note to my eye, is the band of bright white and orange toward the top of the image. I'm not sure of the source for this light, but it seems out of place with the rest of the image. Otherwise, this is a wonderful image.

I too like the softness of the image, the colors and the lighting. Although the stark white band across the top seems incongruous at first, the more I look at the image, the more it serves to frame the birds, adding a bit of tension to the otherwise serene capture. Without it, I think the image might be quite bland.

Lynne captured my thoughts very well.  When I remove the bright band mentally, I'm left with a somewhat boring photograph.  The bright band is somewhat of a contradiction, but adding that has helped to create a more alive, dynamic image that can much better grab and hold my attention, and yet it does not seem to alter the beauty and serenity of the loons.

Thank you Irene, Lynne and Stephen! The white line on the top is a reflection of sunlight in the beach water. I personally agree Lynne and Stephen concerning it´s meaning in this photo...With best wishes
