Great shot -- it really reflects the title because the subject is so small relative to the sky and water.  I agree that it could be a bit brighter and still stay true to the title.  I wish the subject did not intersect with the land on the right; he's placed fine relative to the side of the frame, but if he had not been "touching" the land I think the sense of "being alone" would be even greater.
