Thank you Mr. Mancil! Now you see the differences between the big gun and the small gun / jk - This one is sharper because I use one single center focus point, the other one (with fish) I had the camera on multiple points focusing and did not have time to switch back. In general, I use multiple point focusing for bird in clear sky and switch to one single center focusing point for bird with trees, bushes ...ect in background. Of course, the  5-7K lens is better as well when compares against the $1,500 lens

Thanks Bob!

Mr. Mancil! A good lens is always a good investment, I think. After all, it does not drop in price like camera bodies, LOL! I have had more fun with the 500mm F4 lens than all the cars, motocycles ...ect (some stuff not mentionable too) ...that I've ever owned. :-)

nice & sharp.
yes, i guess, a 500mm should make a difference.
I have tried the 100-400 (on a basic EOS Rebel) on a bird in a tree and could not get a decent shot after using all kinds of bracketing. Though it worked well on larger animals in the zoo.

Thanks Hem! Lighting is the key to good photo, especially bird photos. Shoot early in the morning or late afternoon with the sun behind your back. The 500mm is definitely vey nice but I've gotten good result with the 100-400mm at  times. The 400mm F5.6 is much better than the 100-400mm, I think.
