derekc 0 Posted May 23, 2003 I always like these long exposure running water shots. Since there's not much interest in what is above the falls, I would have tried panning down a bit more, and had the lower pool as a larger foreground element. Maybe even try shooting lower to the water to get a more expansive view leading up to the falls. just my 2 cents worth. Link to comment
corio 0 Posted May 25, 2003 Beautifull scenery - the water looks so limpid - congratulations! Link to comment
srinivas_krothapalli 0 Posted June 5, 2003 I like the shot. You got the flowing water at the right exposure. The sky light on the top left is distracting. Would it be possible to avoid it and get more greenary. Link to comment
StuartMoxham 10 Posted June 5, 2003 I like the way that you did not over do the long exposure so many peaple make it to long. This works just perfectly. Link to comment
brian_hankey 0 Posted June 23, 2003 This is an absolutely amazing photograph. 7/7! I have seen similar pictures and always wondered how you get the water in the waterfall to have that mist/smoke effect. Link to comment
mdemsar 0 Posted August 8, 2003 You managed to capture this scene as though as it's from a dream of some sort. considering that it's unmanipulated- BRAVO!!! Link to comment
silver zenitram 0 Posted November 25, 2003 on this folder. Thanks David for your comments on my photos. I like how you bring the good out of the common. I like your Hot Stuff folder... simple, often overlooked beauty in things and color made by nature. Link to comment
henrimanguy 0 Posted December 15, 2003 Very refreshing shot. Thank you for your comment on "Rain on Siena". I would have appreciate a rating too. You know it is very difficult to have his photos seen if they have no more than 10 ratings. I appreciate very much comments, but if the photos are not seen they have no chance to get many comments. Regards. Link to comment

thomas_turk 0 Posted March 19, 2004 Good strict, clear composition, good water flow shutter speed. Pity the digits.canon didnt.couldnt give us the brilliant colors and sun.shadow contrasts that would have made this an extra ordinary photo..Even the most expensive 10KUS digicameras dont keep up with agfa.fuji plus zeiss.leica.schneider 35 mm and mamiya etc mediums. So what are you going to do when they bring out the next mega giga pixel canon that obsoletes yours, but may still not be up to the reference.... I dont understand why u guys were in such a hurry to embrace new technology?? Did u think u would miss the boat or something.....All the schneider.zeiss.leica fuji.agfa shots ALWAYS elecit wows from the dumbed down dreary digital photo result guys... Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 20, 2004 David, It's a great shot, period. It is soft and the colors have a subtle beauty that is unique to the D30. The slow shutter speed makes the water blur just the right amount. Thomas, FYI, some digitals use Carl Zeiss and Schneider Kreuznach Varigon lenses. For example, the Sony DSC V-1 uses the Zeiss, and several Kodaks use the Schneider-Kreuznach. The Canon D-30 is capable of accepting the full line of Canon lenses, many of which, with good reason, cost thousands of dollars and are used for every professional application imaginable because they produce technically impeccable results. It also accepts many aftermarket lenses. On a print this size, I defy anyone to be able to distinguish between digital and film. I like both and will relinquish neither. Best wishes. David, keep posting your good work. -s Link to comment

nikki_stevens 0 Posted December 30, 2004 David, a great portfolio, I really like this one, I would like to learn how you got this effect, what shutter speed did you use ? or if you dont remember, how should I try and acheive this ? Thank you for your time. Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted December 30, 2004 I have just noticed that I have not reponded to anyone who has commented on this photograph. I apologise. Thank you all! Nikki, I am a little confused by your comment considering you use a digital camera. Go out and experiment. Play! Have fun! I honestly don't remember the shutter speed and I don't have the exif at hand. However, I think it was about 1/3 second. There is a tendency for people to over do moving water. I like to think I got it just about right here. Water moves at different speeds. (on the horizontal at least!) The volume of water is also a consideration. What works well with this waterfall shot will not work well with another. Like I say, go out and have fun. Experiment! Thanks for your kind words on this and my portfolio in general! Link to comment
