Classic framing.  Really like the blues and yellows.  Very nice work Tony, this one I wish would be 11x17 and hanging on the wall :)

Christopher - I appreciate your kind words. Hope all is well with you in SAmerica.

I worked this scene with a number of images which I have posted in the past but not this one. Conditions were bright and blue in the sky but this section was in the shade and the glowing sunlight was hitting the mountain. I decided not to do gardening before and after the shot was taken. As a consequence there is a solitary leaf in the foreground - not very large. My thinking was that it broke up this pristine water just a tad so that it looks 'natural' whatever that means.

I think I might have slipped the polarizer on for this shot. I tend to leave it off especially with my 10-20mm because it can 'mess' with the sky. I think I used it because I had a wide expanse of water and it allowed me to reveal some detail under the water in the foreground. My thinking was that i had no big rock or log in the foreground so this would provide some minimal "Interest".

This was taken in 2009 (I am going through images in that year) in Jasper  National Park (Alberta).

The image has been reprocessed taking the professional advice of other photographers here at photo.net.You can see the 'other' image here in the same folder.

The change to the water is fine; to the dark land, not noticeable but a little strange; to the bright land, kind of garish.  just me, you know.  best, j

Jamie - thanks for the feedback. It is always difficult to predict the likeability of an image. I did not submit this version to the critique forum but it has already garnered almost 1400 views compared to 135 for the other one. Who knows!

The sky was too minimal so I increased it a tad. I darkened and color

corrected the land portion. I would appreciate additional comments.

Thanks.

I think it's great.  The rising sun is obviously just hitting the peaks on the right, and they look perfect.  It's nice to get that bit of reflection as well.  I think I can see a hint of polarizer, but fortunately it didn't make areas of distinctly different blue.

Much better. The land is not so washed out. The sky is fuller now also.

There is IMO still a hint 0f cyan in the mountians in the middle. Maybe making that area a little more blue and darker.

As they say making better best.

Dave

all in what you're going for.  sometimes the views get pumped up in artificial ways, by automated search engines trawling the web, for example.  1400 is a lot, though.  best, j
