Nice picture, I see a whole story here, looking at these three. One idea, I would try to throw the background a bit more out of focus, to weaken its prominence, especially the contraption occupying the upper left part of the frame.

I appreciate your visit -it's been awhile for both of us- and suggestion of doing something about "the contraption" (fake grape vine) and the rest of the background. However if you tried to throw the background more out of focus without moving the people you would not succeed. :-)  Considering you are about 6 meters back, one f-stop change does not noticably change that background focus - and I just tried your idea in my kitchen.

 Even if it did, neither of us would shoot a group at f2.8.

To be honest f4 and shutter speed 1/125, not background, were on my mind. I can't think about too many things at one time. I had no idea where the ISO had gone off to until I uploaded.  It was a fun shot.

If I could delete my response I would. Should simply have said that being that I am about 6 meters away the background is too close to achieve your suggestion.
