The three passengers are seated in a mirror-like pattern, waiting

for friends or relatives, while a train speeds out of the station, its

side design in exact synchronicity with the overall composition.

Your ratings, critiques and observations are invited and most

welcome. If you rate harshly, very critically, or just wish to make a

remark, please submit a helpful and constructive comment; please

share your photographic knowledge to help improve my

photography. Thanks! Enjoy! john (Subway in American sense

meaning 'Metro' -- the Ukrainian name)

Very nice. I was thinking about a B&W version of this, but on the other hand, there are nice Ukranian colors on that train; the color version is a good choice.

That's about the ultimate compliment; a feather in any photographer's cap to be so recognized.

Thank you so much.

You are exactly right; the black and white version which I worked up simultaneously, was really, really good -- surprisingly so.  It was a sad choice to have to make, color or black and white, but 'street' that works in color is pretty rare, so I decided to go with color, and maybe we'll see the B&W version later, much later.  I wish all photos placed such hard choices before me.

Thanks for a fine, helpful comment.

Timo Hartikainen.

Sorry for misspelling your name above; the editing window closed, so I could not fix it without a new comment.

Apologies.

There is allot of action here while the subjects are sitting still ? Great perspective. I also like the colors on this one, nice street shot.

Your comment brings a smile to my face.

Really, this photo was really just a few seconds afterthought, taken as one of three.  This is the one that worked as I 'stutterstepped' upon exiting one train going the opposing direction and seeing this visualized train pulling out of the station.

I had 'previsualized' the three people, in symmtry, sitting there, and thought to myself 'they'd make a pretty good photo, but what if they had a good background?  Please see my presentation on choosing  backgrounds to understand my idea fully?

I stood there, hoped they would not move or change position, then when the opposing train pulled out, began firing.

All this happened in a few seconds.

I'm glad you approved.

One may take hundreds or thousands of 'chance' photos hoping for such synchronicity only to be disappointed.

This one is the jackpot that keeps the photographer symbolically pulling that handle and spinning those wheels, despite the odds.

;~))

That does not mean, however, that I didn't exactly plan for a photo like this; just that they're hard to achieve, especially in low light/high ISO, and people who sit like this are rare, especially with bench vis a vis the supports.

If one person had moved, or the train was a fraction off, then no photo -- a near hit.  Yet I saw it and hit it, slot machine odds or not.

A great shot, you really have caught the desisive moment. Love the yellow V around the women's head. Well done and congratulations William

I took several captures, all with the train, opposite, moving.

I reviewed my frames.

I got it on the first shot.

Some days (nights) the photo gods seem to smile.
