An excellent exposure and I like the way the rim lighting on the right side. I am guessing an off camera flash was used here? This is a great exposure.

Hi Oksana!

Lifelong friends is a very good title for this photo! I like the expression of the girl: this dog is mine!

The soft colours of the photo are perfect for this subject.

Nice work!

Regards

Thank you, friends for your kind words. They are very encouraging.

This was a lucky shot, I wasn't planning for a portrait. The dog climbed up on a sofa where she is not supposed to be and a little girl came to get her off but before she did, she gave her dog a hug :o) The light comes from the glass patio door. And I did use on camera flash.

As for lifelong friends: my friend, the Mother of a little girl, got a puppy as soon as she found out she was pregnant with her daughter. So these two adorable creatures basically grew up together. I find this fact very sweet.

Dear Les, do you think the tones are too cool?  A week ago I callibrated my monitor for the first time and I am not sure I did it correctly. All of my pictures look a little off to me on the screen. I guess I did something wrong. But with this particular image in your edited virsion skin is orange as it appears on my screen. Mine looks natural to me though less suturated. I will callibrate the monitor again and then look at the image again.

Oksana: When in doubt of your calibration, look at the numbers. Taking a reading on the forehead, your skin has more magenta than yellow. With most Caucasian skin, the yellow should be a little stronger than the magenta--I edited the image to achieve this.

Also, I would advise converting your files to the sRGB color space before posting on the Web.

Les, I would like to thank you for giving me your tips about checking WB by testing skin tones. I did some reading (this is new information to me) and made corrections to the image and I do see the difference now. Awsome!

I guess one think is still confusing to me your tip on converting into RGB color space. I am using Lightroom and do convert my files into JPG RGB. Is this what you mean or there is any other convirson? I am new to photography and learning from situations like this  :o)

Thank you
