atle.g 0 Posted January 24, 2012 Like what you are doing here. Creative composition that have a distinct wall hanging/fine art feel to it. Regarding the tonality, the somewhat hey key foreground/water fits well to this comp, but the sky seems too dark i feel. My suggestion would be to lighten it up to fit the foreground better, and thereby give the whole image an even tonal range.Cheers! Link to comment
stp 6 Posted January 25, 2012 My thought is similar to that of Atle, except I was going to express it as the center of the photograph perhaps being too light relative to the rest of the photograph. I think both of us are saying the middle portion of the water is too light for the image, or conversely, the outer portions of the sky are too dark for the image. I like the concept, but I think you should bring a bit more balance to the image in terms of brightness throughout. Link to comment
tonyfrench 0 Posted January 25, 2012 Volker, I also like the idea and the simplicity of this, and particularly the reflection of the cliff in the water. I'm not sure if it's the sky that is too dark or the center that is too light, maybe it's the vignetting on the top. Sorry, I'm not much help, but it does seem unbalanced somehow, tonally. stp 6 Posted January 26, 2012 As I think about this, though, you may have accomplished exactly what you were after, and I can imagine this appealing to you very much. Usually viewer comments like mine are aimed at getting a photo like this to be more "normal," or more like other photos that are similar in composition. I make comments like this because I usually don't know the goal or intentions of the photographer, so while my comments might be valid in some cases, they are completely invalid in other cases. WJBrowning 0 Posted March 6, 2012 Less is more, a simple but oh so effective shot. I like the darker sky works well for me. Well seen and very well executed, best wishes William. Link to comment
