the disappering into the fog effect is not a pronounced as other

shots, but the coating of ICE on the foreground rightmost goose

conveys the coldness

I think this is a terrific shot.  It's so effective to have nearby elements (in this case, geese) relatively clear while those in the distance are increasingly affected by the fog.

You probably forgot about the ice coating on the photographer,very brave man,wonderfull work

thanks for all the comments.  the first time I saw this effect was back in 2008.  this shot was 2011.  this year by time I could get to the river it warmed up to -20 from -32 and the steamy, foggy effect was gone!  it has to be somewhere around -30 to see this and it is soooo cool to be there.
