Photographed for some friends who just had a baby girl named "Raven."

The print I gave them had the white replaced with a pink gradient. For

myself, I like the strict B&W. Your comments and suggestions will be

appreciated. Thanks.

Perfect B/W for the most appropriate subject: no mid-tones, simple and effective composition, excellent framing. We tend to forget that simplicity leads to the most effective form of visual art.

Very well done!

Unusual but effective, don't often see images like this, so for me I rate it high because of originality, and because it suits the subject matter. Well done Stephen.

a very striking image Stephen....i don't think that raven could have picked a better spot to be photographed from....great balance of subject and tone

This is outstanding work, Stephen!  I love the composition--very Zen-like qualities with the graphic pen and ink type of presentation.  This is very cool!  Truly an image that Edgar Allen Poe would certainly admire.  Cheers!  Chris

Stephen, The image looks like a print of a wood engraving. I get also an association with the ravens in the thriller movie of Alfred Hitchcock. Regards Marco

Aside from the very cool silhouette, I love the balance of this with the 2 'not-too-perfect' branches twisting around on each side of the raven....and then the little branch next to the bird.....just an amazing catch, and a very fitting and thoughtful gift for your friends.

A wonderfully seen silhouette. The branches perfectly echo the tilt of the raven, framing his curves beautifully.

IMHO everything is perfectly placed and I also prefer this black and white  (no pink) version. Congrats are in order.

It's a winner! Nothing that imo can be improved. Its also interesting because of the way the comp works...the left low curved branch pointing at the raven, and equally improtant, the divided right branch' right side filling the right space enough to avoid the comp to get left "heavy". Take away that right side part of the branch and it would be a quite different image..its all about the details!

Cheers!

Black against black.  Nice thoughts and care in doing it.  Love the branches up and down to make a good balance.  Best Regards,
