The Trading Post complex was established to represent a French pioneer homestead along the old River Raisin. The main building, built in 1789 by Utreau Navarre, is the oldest wooden residence still standing in the state. It is the most complete example of French-Canadian piece-sur-piece construction in the Old Northwest. It has been restored to 1797. Other buildings include the Navarre-Morris 1810 cookhouse and a replica 1790’s French-Canadian style barn.

Thanks for the explanation,as the building is very unusual ,taking into account all the moderm way of constructions,it is very nicely worked out with probably relative having the (fewer) nowadays tools for this  kind  of work...

I always enjoy shooting these historic sites. To try and imagine what the daily life was like for people in those times.

It's amazing the level of craftmanship, despite the increased level of difficulty. The time and patience it would have taken impresses me.

Tim... An excellent example of HDR done right. A building built when the family expected to live there for generations, not in our age of flipping houses. Well done... Mike

Hi Tim- Great image & exactly suited for a winter capture.Sorry to hear you are thinking of leaving photo.net. I mean who is going to cover Minnessota( did I spell that correctly, probably not)l with your distinct style. If I might be so bold as to offer a bit of advice, do not sell your equipment as perhaps some day you will be outside & come across a scene that would be an interesting image to capture. At least I hope this occurs. Best Regards-Ross

It's hard to leave. I've put so much into this. I got until February to think it over. Things just grew kind of stale with the photography. I'll never give up on it though. Thanks for being a constant supporter!
