There are times to wait and times to 'go for it,' as this young man has

determined (he was successful), this while waiting for a Metro train late

one night. Your ratings, critiques and observations are invited and

most welcome. If you rate harshly, very critically, or wish to make a

remark, please submit a helpful and constructive comment; please

share your photographic knowledge to help improve my photography.

Thanks! Enjoy! john

I love how you framed this and how the arch draws my eye to the couple. The story behind the moment adds a nice element to the image itself. Nice work, John!

Obviously this 'street capture' was preframed and waiting for the right moment.   There also are other captures that could compete framed the same way -- it seemed only natural.  I was mostly hidden under a complementary arch across the middle pedestrian area, not that they would have known it even if I had been out in the open.

Some photos just 'click' in composition, and others do not; this one seemed so natural that my tendency to frame tightly was overcome -- OR to put it another way, I framed tightly for the whole photo and just made my 'subject' a larger one than usual.

I'm glad you like it.

Thanks for letting me know, and also why.

Ruud, it seemed such a simple, easy shot to take within the realm of what I do, I'm delighted by the response and thank you for the recognition.

Sometimes simple can be better, and the same for 'pulling back' to include the whole scene, here to introduce geometric compositional elements.

Best wishes back.

Seldom in 'street' shooting do you get the ability to 'frame' subjects because so many are transient, or will move if they feel they are observed.

This couple was flirting, into their passion, and very oblivious as they were in the mating ritual, so I had the time to make an artful frame incorporating one of the Kyiv Metro's more interesting station's architecture (I am sure you know which station - connects with Teatralna).

This station also provides a place, opposite, where it's easy to stand and not be observed the length of the station . . . so there's privacy for the photographer too.

I'm glad you enjoy this one; with colder weather and short days, the Metro is a refuge for the photographer, despite poor lighting generally.

Best to you and yours.
