harlequin 0 Posted December 28, 2011 I think this is a better shot than the other one currentlty posted. Colortones really work as does the lighting and shading. Again a little more room in the shot would help. I know I am sounding like a broken record, but that is the main feeling I have in most of your shots, just cropped a little too tight. - Charles Link to comment
dominic-c-sensual-photogra 0 Posted December 28, 2011 Thanks very much for your detailed comments, Charles. I know that the way I frame my pictures might irritate some, but I actually like to play with edges... ;-) Link to comment
harlequin 0 Posted December 28, 2011 It is not the framing that bothers me. Ithink it actually helps to bring out the shots. It is how close the image comes to the frame seems confining to the image. For example in this shot, her little finger is against the frame so it has no visual space. Just a little image room around it lets you see that nothing is lost, same thing with her shoulder and knee. The image isn't asking for lot of room but just a little more. I tend to use the edges and run images off as well so I understand you using the "frame" or crop of the picture for effect or statement as well. All the best and i am sure we will continue this conversation on other shots. - Charles Link to comment
papasan 0 Posted December 28, 2011 Very beautiful image Dominic. I like the tones and the light. The pose is interesting without being too revealing, there is a lot to be said about leaving room for imagination... This is one of your best image in my humble opinion. I do concur with the Charles though about leaving a little more space around the model. Now that i look more closely there is another minor point if you allow me: the light on her right hand is much brighter than anywhere else on her body this attracts my eye and is a bid distracting. I would consider burning it just a little to make it more balanced with the rest. But overall excellent image. Regards - michel Link to comment
dominic-c-sensual-photogra 0 Posted December 29, 2011 First of all, thanks very much again, Charles & Michel, for spending time on commenting on my pictures and helping me out in improving them.I was of course teasing you a bit, Charles, in my last reply. I fully understood what you meant. The truth is that - I don't know why - I unconsciously like the frame to be a kind of actor of the image, in a way to show that this frame is limiting my freedom of expression... I dream of borderless pictures and that's probably why I tend to make frames confine the image... I'll try to think otherwise with my next series...I also agree with you, Michel, regarding the right end... I guess my Indonesian editor just forgot to balance the light... :-) Not that easy though... :-)I anyway wish you a very Happy & Prosperous New Year, and I of course we'll keep on exchanging our points of views on Photography... :-) Link to comment
