Guest Guest Posted December 23, 2011 I saw this and responded to it in the No Words forum. I love it. It's a case, which I think is such a key to a good photo, where treatment and content just seem to work so well together. It's a strong vision and a distinctive one, no holds barred. It's also got lightness (both technically and narratively). It's fun, with poignancy. One has to stick with it in order to focus on the expressions beyond the surface goings on. They pay off. The guy in the back just tugs at me and yet you don't allow me to wallow in it. Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted December 31, 2011 Olaf,Thanks, glad you like this. Anon,Thanks and the best of the season to you and your family. Pete,Thanks for sharing your impressions. Carlos,Sometimes pretty works, I'm glad you thought so in this instance. Jeff,I'm glad the fun aspect came through. I had a bit of a Driving Miss Daisey vibe when I saw these two. I waited and hoped they would cooperate in terms of angle of pose. Pnina,You know I am always happy to bring a smile. I've sent them around to your place it may take them a bit of time to arrive :-) Fred,Your comment on the treatment meshing well with the content was nice to read. I had this file available for quite awhile and had taken several runs at it without arriving at an appropriate result. Thankfully I had an good exposure with which to work, however the tinted closed rear window, the black dog in the open front window and the truck exterior never pulled together. A recent PP trial with dogs in cars 3.6 finally set me off in a direction which seemed to compliment the image. Link to comment
3m 0 Posted January 8, 2012 A strong and original work indeed, Gordon. Interesting treatment. Somehow this has a bit of an airy & metallic feel to it for me ; if it weren't for the steering wheel, I would almost get the impression that these two were seated in an airplane taking off... Best wishes, Marjolein Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted January 11, 2012 Marjolein,Light and airy was the atmosphere I was trying to conjure for this pair. Although I had not thought specifically about airplanes I can see the connection you have made. Thanks for sharing your impressions. best regards Gord. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted February 7, 2012 I look at this and I can't help running some goofy movie type narrative through my head. That one in the back is saying, "For God's sake slow down! You're going to get a ticket." I just know it's what's going down. Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted February 14, 2012 Dave, Thanks for the smile. I'll confess to often putting words into the mouths of dogs, they so often seem to be saying something and woof woof just does not cover it. Link to comment
