All C&C and ratings are welcome. As a serious hobbyist I appreciate

any ideas to make this shot better. Thanks.

These bees found some spilt sugar water from a bird feeder in our yard.

Tried to capture a moment in nature - bees discovering a new food

source..

Hi Dave,

It is always nice to find an active scene in Nature.

This is a good capture, but could be better.

You should try using F/4 or F/5.6 , since by F/11, most lens start to become compromised in their image quality. I know, since there are not many lens that I have not formally tested in the optical lab and in field  tests.

Large f-stops do provide larger DOF, but at a cost.

If you do shot with any lens at a lower f-stop (like F/2.8,  F/4 or F/5.6), then the working distance and perspective used allows you to keep the important elements in focus (DOF preservation).

I rarely stop any of my zoom or fixed focal length lens past F/5.6.

Best Regards,  Mike

I love the clarity, natural color and simple blue background. Rated 6.

Some nature purists might argue that the platform on which they have congregated is not 'natural' but I have no 'beef' with it.

Great macro shot. Beautiful colour and clarity.  There must be something on this (looks like a rubber tube) to make them congregate so avidly. As Tony said the Blue background for me also is lovely.

Warmest regards, Gail

Gail, thanks for the comment. Some sugar water spilled on the iron feeder hook. The bees found it in minutes - before it dried. Dave

Very nice capture. I can even see the excitement of the situation.

Too much blue for me, but then I live in Seattle where we are more used to seeing gray. 8~)#

Shawn, this was taken in Phoenix - and blue is all we get. I love visiting the northwest. Over half of my vacations have been some place up there - all summer time though.
