Confrontation With Fear

This seemed an appropriate time to post this, considering the great

loss-of-life and suffering due to a recent flash-flood here in Cagayan

De Oro, Mindanao, Philippines.

At least 650 dead, many children, around 400 still reported missing,

and more than 100,000 left homeless. Much of the city is also without

water. I have a trickle here at my home, enough to get by. The bodies

have overwhelmed the funeral homes and a health crisis is looming.

Fear is a palpable emotion around here at this time. Please think of

those who are suffering when you view this image.

I REALLY needed that holiday 'boost'!  Things have been HORRIBLE around here lately, compounded by the Flood Catastrophy on Friday the 10th.  The death count is now up to 1,236!

Still only a trickle of water from the faucets in my house, along with many other problems resulting from the floods.  They 'expect' to have the water pressure problem 'fixed' in about three weeks...

Many areas in this city of a half-million still have No Water and No Electricity. There more that 200,000 people in tempory shelters with only minimal food and sanitation.  They will most likely be there for two to three months before the city has their relocation facilities built.
