I was shooting with a new 7D and Sigma 50mm f/1.4 today. This is the

first time I have been able to catch ducks in flight. They almost look

too perfect, at least to me. wing perfectly in sync, like they were

added with Photoshop, they weren't. DOF was right on the ducks. Is it

possible for things to look too perfect? And I am not saying this is

perfect by any means compared to stuff I have seen on PN. The ducks

were pretty far away for a 50mm and the image has been cropped and

reduced to 1500 pixels. Really hoping for some opinions. Please view

large. Thanks.

Hi Mark. Both ducks are kind of "lost" in your frame. Judging by the red color of the background and the distance from your subjects, a 500mm super telephoto with a 1.4 X teleconverter would create a great "bird in flight " shot with a nice blurred BOKEH. The way this shot is captured doesn't seem to work. Too many elements (water, branches, trees, red leaves) tack sharp and quite distractive. Regards from Greece, Teo
