stp 6 Posted December 17, 2011 Wonderful and intriguing photograph. We usually think of swans as the epitome of grace and beauty. They still represent that here, but the surroundings are the opposite of that and have a more ominous, sinister atmosphere. That was achieved, in part, by your use of the GND filter to darken the sky, and the bare trees and B&W rendering further contribute to the dark feeling. Yet the swans glide by. It's the contrast of the grace of the swans with the dark, bare, and angular forms of the trees that I find so intriguing. It's not your typical setting, which is a great part of its appeal for me. AlanKlein 2,904 Posted December 18, 2011 Damir: I agree with the others that this is a very moody shot, dark and almost sinister. While the vignette adds to this, I think it's over too far on the left side causing the first swan's neck and head to go darker than the rest of it and the others. Also, less space on the right.
