jerrymat 3 Posted December 13, 2011 Panayotis,This is a very philosophically challenging composition. Normally, visually putting the center of interest dead center left to right is a negative thing because the center has less visual interest, it is too balanced. I decided to make that point by re-cropping your image into two, one showing a traveler with all of the future to explore and one showing a traveler with all the past behind him. (As you see here) Then it struck me! A time traveler is always centered with time going both away behind and forward - the time traveler must be centered from his own perspective. That conflict between visual composition and logical progression is wonderful! I am putting this image in my list of favorites. My regards,Jerry Link to comment
panayotis_papadopoulos 0 Posted December 13, 2011 Thank you very much for your comments. Yes, the sky was fantastic that afternoon during sunset. I waited till this interesting human figure appeared and took the shot.I gave a boost to the sky as far as color is concerned, and darkened a bit the whole image. Jerry, thanks a lot for taking the time to leave such a constructive comment. I feel honored to have a picture of mine among your favorites. Sometimes photographic rules are meant to be broken if there's a reason. If you watch closely you will see a cloud above his head. Furthermore there are some kind of (cloud) rays pointing to a specific direction, leading down to right left corner. It's like the cloud, above him, showing his next destination. He walked half of his travel and now he has another half to complete his journey. That's how I saw the story behind my shot. As mentioned earlier the sky has only color boosting and no other manipulation. I do not expect of course people to go along with my story, they can make up their owns. I guess that's the reason for some low ratings...and always with no comments.Thank you all! Panayotis Link to comment
