Panorama with Moon

djl251

First of all this is a highly manipulated image. The panorama is created from three 35mm images taken with a 50mm lens. The moon is pasted onto the scene and is taken with a 400mm lens. This is my attempt to recreate the illusion of the lunar paradox - the large apparent size of the moon when it is near the horizon. This gross collage seems to recreate for me what my eye sees when the moon is almost full and low on the horizon. The effect illustrates the difference between the human eye and the camera. I could go on but I'll stop. If you're interested and don't mind being totally confused see: http://www.pnas.org/cgi/content/full/97/1/500
