wondrous.  it's pretty dark, but i think it works well because it highlights the little wreath.  you might even go darker to accentuate the focus there.  best, jamie

Very well captured Linda. I love the detail in the textures, rocks, fireplace. From the title, I take it this was a very 'sad outcome' to this fire. The Wreath is a very important part of the composition, and helps in setting the mood.

Nicely done, Linda,

Warmest regards, Gail

Thank you both. This wasn't a recent fire, I don't know when it happened, but there is a lot of growth in and around the basement. Walking around the ruins taking shots, it felt haunted. I don't know the history, it is very dark, depressing atmosphere. I don't think the wreath was there before the fire. Someone must have come along and hung it afterwards. But it really added to the gloomy feeling.

Best wishes,

Linda

Hi Linda, This is good work, its emotional impact is pretty high and you don't have to change a thing, the point is made. In its simplicity and the fact that time has elapsed  still can not take away the sadness. Life of course goes on as can be seen by the the trees in the BG. Take care.

Sincerely,

Holger

Obviously, this story is a dark one, but you gotta love the optimistic Christmas elf who hung the little wreath.  I like how the color of the bricks match the wreath.  Quite grim.  Definitely not a Hallmark scene.

Thank you all for your kind and generous comments. Sorry that it took me so long to acknowledge them. It is my first Christmas as a Grandmother, I have been distracted.

Best wishes,

Linda
