Ongard (the young elephant in this photo) is part of Melbourne zoo's

elephant captive breeding programme to help preserve the endangered

Asian elephant.

His name represents "boldness" and was born 10 September 2010.

During this photo shoot, Ongard was playing with sister Mali and it

got out of hand so mum came along grabbed him by the truck and moved

him away.

Where possible, please help in the conservation of Asian elephants

thanks for your thoughts

Another Winner! Most certainly a 7 from me as well.I just love these "Gentle Giants" and even though Mommy intervened I can already picture her doing so in a very Gentle manner. Thanks once again for sharing with us all. Warmest Regards.

I like the mottled light, it is a wonderful and  interesting way to highlight the skin textures. I like the way the light travels from the top left corner to the lower right. The sepia tones add drama and impact to the image. They could be dancers on stage, very elegant, theatrical and dramatic. A wonderful composition. Excellent work.

Best wishes from Canada,

Linda

I'd love to know more about the lighting conditions for this image.  It almost looks like they're in a spotlight.  It's a beautiful and moving image.

To everyone who has taken the time to comment on this image, thank you very much.

Hi Christal, I try to always shoot in overcast days with even light. This allows me to use existing shadows through natural light and accentuate them along with additional photo-editing to enhance surrounding light giving the appearance of a spot light effect (which you see here and in some other images). All images are shot in open enclosures.

thanks again everyone
