Black-eared Kite ssp. lineatus (juvenile)

both local birds and migrants seen - this is a migrant...my analysis in 2013 after photographing and looking at hundreds of these kites in order to sort out the differences between the two sub-species: a single photo (such as this one) is tough to judge...my guess is here is that this is indeed Black-eared (lineatus)...but 20-30% chance that this is govinda (Pariah Black Kite)...so juveniles are really tough. best key is size differences and differences in streaking pattern
