I went to the Bandon petting zoo a few weeks ago, just as kind of a

stop to kill time. I don’t usually even photograph at zoos. I got here

and a saw this Lion, and it had to be the saddest Lion I have ever

seen. There are just some animals that can't be happy caged, and this

is one of them. For one thing this is Oregon, our climate is a little

bit different than Africa. It was just sad the way the Lion traced

around his caged, and kept repeating the same routine over and over

again. Now I'm not trying to hate on the petting zoo. They seemed to

take great care of the animals, all of there habitats were very clean

and neat. And I don’t know how they got the animal if it was a rescue

or what. But my point is that you could just see the sadness in this

Lions eyes, and I know that this is probably one of the better captive

habitats for animals. So you can only imagine the less fortunate ones.

So this is why I named the photo A King Without a Crown. Because this

Lion will never be "King" because he will never know freedom.

Thank you for such a compelling story and beautiful image. I concur with your sentiments 100%.

I cannot relate to Wild animals in captivity and having seen and/or filmed most of the wildlife species in Africa, over time... your comment on the "eyes" is what does it for me.

Thankyou for your empathy here, and for sharing your thoughts.

Your image is outstanding, inspite of your sad story.......... well done.

Regards
