This is exquisite, Tony. Texture, color, lighting, contrast -- especially the use of contrast -- are all compelling.

Have you considered a square crop of the image, on the leftmost pods? I tried one out, and I think it also tells a lovely story, though a quite different one from the image presented here. In your presentation, the reflected light on the water is a dominant theme. The interplay of that with the white, delicate seed pods contrasting with the black water adds a nice layer of depth and complexity to the composition. Yet in cropping that out the right side, you have the much sparser story: now the reflected light becomes a mere accent.
