craig_allyn_rose 0 Posted April 28, 2003 Actually two questions. First, does this crop work with 2/3 of image taken up by tulips? Second, does this level of depth of field hold your attention? Thanks! Link to comment
thomas_breazeale1 0 Posted April 28, 2003 Craig, the cropping is fine but IMO the DOF is distracting.Sharp from front to back would make a stronger image, the soft focus taints the flowers with a plastic look.Still a nice shot. Link to comment
h._p. 2 Posted April 28, 2003 I think there's a good idea here but I think you need to crop immediately above the tree to force attention on the foreground. Link to comment
karen_siebert 0 Posted April 28, 2003 I like this photo alot. The cropping works for me. The depth of field works well for me too, it would be interesting to see some different depths of field to compare. Did you do any other shots? Link to comment
damon1 0 Posted April 29, 2003 Absolutely beautiful! The horizon appears just a tad tilted, but for me, the cropping is great; although the trees are kinda out of place. BTW, what's with that odd-man-out on the left hand side?!?! Link to comment
craig_allyn_rose 0 Posted April 29, 2003 Well, thanks folks, for the comments. Yes, the image is a wee bit tilted. And those trees? Well, nothing I could do about those ;-) However, the comment about the odd-man-out....this was one of the most fascinating things about this particular event (Skagit Valley Tulip Festival). A huge field of yellow, or red tulips with one or two white or multi-colored tulips popping up among the majority tulips! It was really cool to see. I have additional tulips posted on my web site at www.carosephoto.com if interested. Again, thanks for the notes opf DOF, cropping, and other elements of this photo! Link to comment
andreas_weber1 0 Posted May 1, 2003 I think this shot needs a little bit more "picture" on the lower! But still fine! Link to comment
tomsperduto 0 Posted May 4, 2003 I like the way the photo makes you start at the bottom takes you up to the tree and sky and then back again to the flowers. I think the composition is great. The only thing about it that I think could make it better is that it looks very digital to me. Though some would prefer this look, I would prefer a more natural look to the flowers. Overall, a very nice picture! Link to comment
craig_allyn_rose 0 Posted May 5, 2003 Tom, Andreas and Oliver, Thanks for taking the time to comment on this image. Tom-your point about the digital feel of the image strikes as being really appropriate. I used an Elan 7 for this, but upon inspecting the slide from the lab it looked so contrasty. Not sure why, but this is one of two out of four rolls of Sensia 100 that came out this way. Again, thanks all for your time and comments. The Photo Monkey // www.carosephoto.com Link to comment
palle 0 Posted May 12, 2003 Hi This is a mood booster for me, nice summer like, colors are fresh the composition is good with the trees on the left and the mountains in the background. Simply a crowd pleaser Kind regards Palle Christensen Link to comment
doug james dailey 0 Posted June 28, 2003 I like this photo, but think it would look nicer if the trees in the upper left corner were cropped out. Just the blue sky and tulips left. Link to comment
