danny_deckers 1 Posted November 6, 2011 If only the tip of the leaf were in the frame i would call this gorgeous shot with it's outstanding lighting MORE than perfect. Link to comment
vijaykishan 0 Posted November 6, 2011 You have managed to render an excellent macro shot with a superb artistic twist Hasan, which in my book requires creativity and patience. Lets start from the leaf, twisted, backlit, textured and dry, it adds so much to this composition. I wish though, the tip of the leaf were visible as well. The DOF is perfect, rendering most of the leaf sharp including its base, very nice touch. The line of highlight that runs on the bottom edge of the leaf enhances the twist. The caterpillar is sharp, detailed and very colourful (I suspect that is not enjoying the ride on the dry leaf, as they normally prefer fresh green ones to eat). The bokeh is almost perfect in terms of colour, nicely transitioning from brown to green balancing/complementing the leaf and the caterpillar. The smoothness of the blur could have been a bit better as I can see that in at least 3 or 4 places there are hexagonal blobs indicating you are using a lens with a 6 bladed diaphragm. You, as an artist have managed to pull the best of what the lens can deliver :) . Lastly the right bottom of the picture might need a slight boost as it is IMHO drawing attention. Given the excellent composition, artistic touch and details, these are but minor niggles. This picture goes straight into my favourite macro pictures tags. Thank you for sharing and my compliments on this beautiful picture. Link to comment

dom1 1 Posted November 6, 2011 I like the composition. The twisting leaf adds dimension. Link to comment
museebfoto 2 Posted November 6, 2011 The desire of using the rule of third unfortunately made the crop of the leaf. Nevertheless it remain unrivaled capture. Link to comment
knweinhold 0 Posted November 11, 2011 Very attractive and captivating composition; the thumbnail caught my eye and I liked it even before I viewed the photo. The only hesitation I have with this shot is that the brightness of the background to the lower left draws the eye away from the subject. -kevin :) Link to comment
