This Night Heron is not an easy bird to find in the daytime and I have

spent many hours in a "stealth and search" mode, to locate and capture

him.

Your comments are always appreciated..........

Grayham, fun shot. The work to find and get a shot like this is one thing that makes photographing wildlife interesting and challenging. The pose is great and showing one toe from beneath the belly feathers is rare. The night herons near my home are gray instead of brown. Where was this shot taken? I enjoy seeing your wildlife shots. Great subject and the exposure is good, especially considering the back-lighting.  These birds are skittish so bravo to your patience.  My only critique would be to compose (or crop) with the subject off-center next time.  Nice work.

Thanks for your visit and kind words. I reckon this Heron is the Australian cousin to your one over there. In my Presentation on Herons (work in progress) I have been "loaned" an image of your Heron (by a PN member) for comparison purposes..... should you have time to look.

Thanks for your visit and kind words. Your comment is very valid but unfortunately my angle of view/capture was so tight (having taken an age to get this close) that I just shot what I could........ dead-centre images are not my "norm" but I had hoped that I might just squeeze this one past you all........ silly me (smiles).

Thanks again...........

It's almost unreal - the bird standing at one foot as statue.  I agree a photo like this is one makes wildlife photos interesting. You have even managed to get it very sharp and color balance is also good.

Thanks for your lovely comments on this image................. my concentration here was purely on the Heron and I gave no thought to the background whatsoever.... so I was fortunate not have blown the whole image as this guy was so skittish that he was gone after 2 shots.
