The backround kills the shot for me. For me, it's always about the lighting on the subject, and the background not having too much. All the bokeh in the background are more lit than your subject. When I walk and shoot, I always keep the sun behind me. You composed it great, but with the lack of light your detail is lost. Just my opinion. Light makes photos, but light can kill a photo as well.
