Jack McRitchie 150 Posted November 3, 2011 I think this one is my favorite from the series conveying as it does both the feeling of vast space and a sense of emptiness. The pictures seem like dreamscapes, a past reality from which we are now excluded with only the after-image remaining Link to comment

jgalyon 0 Posted November 12, 2011 Jack, if i could afford it ...i'd attempt to employ you for the sole purpose of describing what i feel about my own pictures, for you seem to do it better than i could hope to. i don't express myself well with the written word, and perhaps that's part of why i like taking photographs so much! ;) This is shot in eastern Tennessee, near a little town called Wartburg... whose only claim to fame is that the infamous Brushy Mountain Prison is located there. It's closed now...which reminds me, I'd love to get permission to photograph the building, all of which still stand. You may recall that James Earl Ray was imprisoned there...and these are the mountains that he escaped into before being tracked down a couple of days later. Good to hear from you, as always.Regards,John Link to comment
amachado 2 Posted February 26, 2012 Such an evocative image, recalls the wonderful lazy afternoons of my youth, full of promise and unknowns.... alfredo Link to comment
jgalyon 0 Posted April 23, 2012 Alfredo, My apologies for missing your comment until now. Yes, memories. I have some strong memories from my youth that involve a stream and waterfall that is close to this scene. When I took this shot it was the first time I'd been in the area since I was in my early twenties. This is one of the most beautiful areas of Tennessee. Thanks for your kind comments...
