Out of many thousands of acres of forest, this is one of my favorite trees:

an old maple on the bank of the Skykomish River. It has lichens hanging

on one side, and that gives it more personality than its adjacent neighbors.

The leaves are falling, revealing the twisted inner framework of dark limbs.

It was this partially exposed framework that made the photo worthwhile to

me. Comments and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Impressve light and shadow. A very lonely evocative image that you were able to capture at just the right moment, Kudos on this one, rek.

Wonderful back light photo with great comp, lovely golden mood and nice clarity. The black b/g enables that this tree, its branches and the leaves stand out perfectly. Great work, indeed!

The lichens are spectacular but the colour palette really lifts this one. The black bg sets it all off beautifully.

Excellent contrast and colors. Not only this photo shows the beautiful features of the tree, but also its soul....

This is a complicated scene, handled beautifully. The leaves help accentuate the lines of the branches, as do the brightly lit areas. This is a great photo to view at length because there always seems to be some other details missed at first.

The mosses almost look like icicles.
