This is very unusual and interesting Wanghan.   I missed this on my last trip to Utah.  Where is it?

Dominick,

The place is closed to Page.  I coped it from the websit: "You turnFrom Kanab, drive east on Highway 89 toward Lake Powell for approximately 55 miles, until reaching the small town of Big Water, Utah. At Big Water, turn left on the Ethan Allen Road, which is between mile markers 6 and 7, directly across the highway from the Big Water Grand Staircase-Escalante Visitor Center. Follow Ethan Allen past several streets to a "T" in the road. Turn left at the "T" and bypass the old softball field on the left side of the now gravel road. Follow this wide, graded road past two fish hatcheries. Continue north past a corral which is located 3 miles from Highway 89. If driving a 2WD, park on the right side of the road just before crossing the creek and then begin the hike up Wahweap Creek. High clearance 4WD vehicles can continue past the corral, crossing Wahweap Creek, and then continue for .3 miles. The trail begins in Wahweap Creek just below the 4WD parking area"

You have to start very earlier to get the sunrise shot.  It would take 2 to 3 hours to get there.  Go to the Visitor center (at Big Water on the other side of Hwy 89) to get a map and the information the day before.  My wife and I lost our way when we tried to go there the first day.  Take a lot of water with you.

Best Regards,

Incredible textures and shapes, and I do like the way you have framed and composed the upright formations.

Very well done!

I really like the soft light here.  I googled "wahweap" and now have this bookmarked for my next trip.  You've inspired me to see this wonderful place with my own eyes.

Hi Wanghan,

A nice scene capture.

Next time try using the lens set at F/5.6. You will see a noticeable difference in the "snap", as the defintion will become much imporved.

Best Regards,  Mike

sharp without seeming forced.  lovely closeness and depth.  the background fades back nicely as well.

f/5.6 would be sharper at the point of focus, but the background would be blurry.  It might be a better picture, but it would certainly be a different picture.  best, jamie

I know exactly where this is.  We went as far as the corral only.  Had I known these were back there, we would have gone further.  This is wonderful lighting on what is usually a stark and over-exposed subject.

Impressive scuptured rock formations .Reminds me of Cappadocia in Turkey where the soft layers of rock have weathered away.   Off the beaten track .     Well seen.           John

This is a beautiful shot, Wanghan.  My friend and I will be in Page in about 2 weeks so we may look for these formations.  Nicely done!
