These new leaves unfolding are always red, but with a little back-lighting

can be spectacular.

This is really gorgeous. Won't find these in our neck of the woods - in fact, snowed a little today! Looks like you were pretty close to this  (50mm) and yet you still used iso of 1600- there's a little noise in the bg on large size. If you wanted, you can minimize that by running a light blur tool just over the background.  Never the less, stunning.

Dominick,  this is just simply put stunning.  these have always been one of my favorite plants to work with, have never seen one with quite these gorgeous colors.  might have to put Maui on my list of places to visit.  lovely work!

Thanks Roger!  I appreciate your input.   In theory, I should have a lot left of Maui to photograph.  Aloha.

Dominick...  I've always heard of red ferns, but this is my first to see.  Excellent presentation.  I'm immediately reminded of the old classic story "Where the Red Fern Grows" by Wilson Rawls... Mike

Impressive - the colour and sharpness of the unfolding frond and the way it sits among the fronds a round it.

Thank you Adrienne.  The new unfolding fronds are quite colorful and green as they age.  Michael, I've read the author and wonder how I missed that connection.  I need to fire up a few more of these old brain cells.

Fabulous image - lots for the eyes to view and appreciate. More importantly you got 3400 plus views - heard to replicate even for some of the top rated images here at pn except the nude section.

Even though your average rate is 5.00, I am rating it a 6.

Tony, thank you!   I think overall I value the number of hits more than high ratings.  "Made You look"  is OK by me.
