Inspiration Point Dawn (View Larger)

Ray Banfield and I were camping in Bryce Canyon and the temperature

dipped into the twenties that night & I awoke shivering around 2:30

AM. I waited to wake Ray to around 3:30 AM and immediately went to the

truck to warm up. Ray was very kind to me and made coffee and

delivered to me in the warm truck. We were anxious to get going and

stay warm so we headed to the point.We finished our coffee sitting in

the parking lot and decided to venture out even though it was about 35

minutes before the sun would rise. It amazing how much you can see

before it starts getting light and cameras were set up for our first

photos. It seemed to take forever and I was getting cold again when

the first signs of light started lighting the Hoodoos. The sun was

still 15 minutes away from clearing the horizon when I took this

photograph. The dynamic range was so great that it took me 7 exposures

to contain it all.
