andmd 0 Posted April 25, 2003 Given the subject here, is there a different/better way I could have composed the shot? I'm trying to learn to see things more abstractly, or at least differently, so that my photos aren't all boring. Link to comment
matt_l.1 0 Posted April 25, 2003 I really like the play between the dark railings and the shadows they create; especially on the bottom fire escape.... i love it how its almost impossible to tell what is shadow and what is iron. My only concern is the contrast, the wall is a bit too hot for my tastes. You certainly have some more abstract shots in this folder, a great start i would say, keep up the good work. Link to comment
mmmee 0 Posted April 28, 2003 This is a unique perspective. What a great idea. Certainly not boring. There could be more luminosity or more bright whites to make it 'pop'. But nice contrast. I really like the way the stairs get smaller and smaller as they get higher in the photo. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted July 4, 2003 Mathew, You've done just fine here. Tilting the camera provided an interesting perspective. Very good achitectural shot. Looks like a good start for a portfolio on the high school. Get some longer shots, some closer detail shots & you're on your way. Best, LM. Link to comment
roscoe 0 Posted July 6, 2003 This is my kind of b&w work. I like the high contrast, it gives the shot an "edge", and makes it interesting. Link to comment
andmd 0 Posted July 6, 2003 Thanks for taking time to mull over the shot and comment. Len, I took your advice and went back out to the high school. I developed the negatives, and when I get a chance to look at them I'll post any that look interesting. I tried to take all of your critiques to heart when I took the shots, so we'll see. Thanks again. Link to comment
andmd 0 Posted March 22, 2004 Each of the shots was hideous, and I've since moved. It's a mere two hours away, though, and I'll get back there someday. Link to comment
joemoree 0 Posted April 29, 2005 The angle is great, you may be suffering from the same problem I have when scanning. The images seem to lose something on a "everyday scanner" like I use.I still struggle with the contrast on mine.Original shot...congrats. Link to comment
