Beautiful colors.  I agree with Mike and his photo brings out the colors.

I like the darker tones and detail in the lighter tones of the first and the vibrance of the second image. There is probably an image that combines the two.  It is that time of year again. Looks like a trip to Skyline Drive is in my future.

Mike, it was indeed a dark day. I didn't want to lighten the pic too much since this tended to lose the sense of never ending mountains this view seemed to give. Of course, I could isolate the front hill and lighten it selectively, but this gives a sort of unreal feeling- so decided to go with  altering reality only a little :)

Always interesting to see different folks' preferences and this is the beauty of photography - it can be so subjective.

It’s always interesting to see the original out-of-camera image and I know what you mean about taste. I often hesitate to comment because I don’t have the training to be able to evaluate based on any objective criteria; all I do is consider what I would do if the image I am looking at is mine and that all comes down to taste.
