3m 0 Posted October 23, 2011 I'm sorry to say this, but it's almost too painful for me to look at... I'm not sure which point of view is predominant here: the mother's or the photographer's, but it's probably a combination of both In any event, I feel that those pearls almost seem to strangle the baby (literally & figuratively...) Don't really want to sound harsh, Deb, as I think that you have a keen photographer's eye and some lovely photos in your portfolio, but I feel very strongly that the pearls are a poor choice for a prop with newborns....( In your 'diva dreams photo' you seem to have used them with a bit more subtlety... However; the way the baby's hands are positioned around the pearls in the photo almost seems to convey a connotation of rosary beads.... Innocence, simplicity, but most of all purity is the essence of (newborn) babies, I believe. Your rendering has effectively negated that, and is overburdened by all the -- superfluous (headbands and big bows are a matter of personal taste, I guess) -- props....On a positive note; Olivia is well positioned in the frame -- your B&W rendering is nicely done here & evens out the skin tone quite well.. I hope that you don't mind me sharing my frank thoughts on the above photo, Deb...Best regards to you, Marjolein(PS: I found this photo by clicking on your "Sweet Olivia" image, which, BTW, was just underneath of "Hand With Pearls", by M. Moro.....) Link to comment
deb1 0 Posted October 23, 2011 I request for other photographers to share their thoughts, so with that said, I don't mind your comments. The pearls were brought by the mother as that is something she wanted to include in the photo shoot. deb Link to comment
