fatboab

I woke up one morning in October and found that we 'd had our first frost of the winter. So I grabbed my camera and shot of down to the country park at 8am. I liked the way the light was shining through these leaves. The 15"x10" Illfachrome print is amazing, the scan doesn't do it justice.

When I entered this in a competition last year the judge said it was"wallpaper" and "lacking afocal point". Personally I don't think it needs a focalpoint as it'sa patern, the eye is supposed to roam around and findsomething that interests it, not be pushed at a particular point.Another judge reckoned that "It really needs a redleaf in there somewhere".

I would be intereted infinding out what you think, do you think it needs a focal point forthe eye to rest on like a red leaf...?

Cheers.

Hi Bob. On some level, it does work as an abstract, but the leaves are too "literal" to be really effective on that level- perhaps if they were reflections of leaves, it might work better. I think the judge was right, it needs to have some sort of anchor of focal point for the eye to rest. Still, a nice photo.

Yes, they were right. But my oppinion is not to put some red leaf somewhere (it has been seen many many times), but to put something realy different from other same theme photo.
