Some breezes revealed the slow process of dune movement and shaping.

That and the existing patterns were interesting to me. Your comments and

suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Very fine image of sand with unique colors again for sands, though very bright at some areas but with good details ,and in the shadows too ,perfectly exposed and finely composed with a great deal of an abstraction power.

Very nice capture and presentation Stephen.

There are a few things I like about this image. First the composition isn't text book yet it works very well.

Secondly the retention of both shadow and highlight detail in such a high contrast image.

And thirdly you've achieved a good balance of warm light on the right empahising the warmth of the sun and cool blue tones on the left emphasising the cool of the shade. Often this can be difficult to achieve in one photograph.

Finally the windswept sand breaching the dune brings it to life. Well done.

Some interesting and well captured elements that invite further scrutiny. The impression of a serrated edge rising from the spine of the dune at the bottom of the image, the transition of colour from one side of the dune to the other, and of course wind blown sand. In addition to this there is the abstract quality to appreciate also, the question mark shape being an entirely approriate profile for this thought provoking scene.

Sincere Compliments

Alf

I feel that this could pass both as a landscape and an abstract excellently. The blown sand all the more made this image dynamic that represent movement on a seemingly razor-edged lines of static sand.. There is some texture of the bright sand on the right lower edged that I would have wanted to see more towards the top but seem to fade which i understand might have been brought about by the wind.

An exceptional image and one that I would keep on my wall.Best regards!

Stephen, I think this is my favorite of the three dune images you posted for critique. I mentioned in my critique of one of the others that it might be stronger if composed slightly differently. With this one, though, you truly nailed it. Well done.

Excellent capture and for me, it's the wind, that adds that something extra that pushes it ahead of other such images. Well done, Stephen!

PRECISELY! Referring to my comment on the other image, made before I saw this one, this image is exactly what I had in my mind's eye when I made the other critique!

Hi Stephen, this is my favorite of your recent images. The slight wind-blown area of sand gives this image the subject that it needs. It's actually a fairly complex image given the abstract and singular nature of the subject. I can imagine a series of such images framed artistically on a gallery wall. Best, JJ

Excellent image, playing with the light and shadow extraordinary and the wind blown sand add a lot to the image. Where do you photographed all this? I'm back from Utah, ( and SW US) and get some sand-dunes, but those where not  attractive at all. Lots of people and trampled all over with foot prints. We where at Death Valley area, Stovepipe Wells Village  area, for sand-hills, and many other places.

Greetings,

Bela
