Beautiful tonality and contrast in this shot, Thadd.

I find that the horizon seems slightly slanted. This makes the entire picture appear a bit distorted as everything looks to be angled. Even though there's a landmass on the right side, if you look behind that landmass, the line that forms the silhouette isn't straight. It makes me, as the viewer, feel very off-center.

Everything else is perfect. I particularly like the log that's pointing directly at the sun, it's a very nice touch. Perhaps even sharpening the clouds a bit more will add the the drama that you've captured. The exposure was excellent, you've captured enough detail in the foreground rocks to give us a great sense of location and an anchor for the eye.

Keep up the great work Thadd. 6/7.

All the best,

Stan.

I agree with Stan, the horizon line does give this photo an odd feel. I am not sure if leveling it though would change the effect of the wood stabbing at the sun.

The colors are very nice with the mix of reds, oranges, blacks and the blue in the sky.

I would try leveling that horizon and seeing what it does to the photo.
