adamgibbsphotography 0 Posted October 14, 2011 First light strikes alpine larch in The Enchantments. The Enchantments in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness is truly the jewel of Cascades. The possibilities for photography are endless. On this particular morning I set up my 4x5 well in advance and waited for the first light to overcome the distant peaks. The warm morning light combined with the yellow autumn needles made the larch look as if they were on fire. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted October 14, 2011 Great composition, and an absolutely wonderful place to be. Link to comment
martin-s 0 Posted October 15, 2011 Adam, that's a superb image!I love the sparse colour palette from purple to orange and yet it looks very colourful. It also has a great sense of depth enhanced by the rocks in the foreground, that are just being hit by the sun.I really enjoyed looking through your portfolio. Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted October 15, 2011 Wonderful - I used the shadow/highlight Photoshop CS5 to darken the sky and added a slight mid-range contrast. I liked the result but it may be just food for thought for you! Link to comment
stp 6 Posted October 15, 2011 I tried what Tony suggested, and I liked the result. With the shadows set from about 15% on up (I even went up to around 30%), the sky benefitted the most, and the scene had a sense of being earlier in the day. Link to comment
adamgibbsphotography 0 Posted October 18, 2011 Stephen, Martin, Thanks a bunch for the suggestion. This is more or less a straight scan from a 4x5 so I will definitely try what you have suggested. Cheers! Link to comment
