Nice pose for the bird. Guess I'd dance a bit too if I landed on that sharp metal...

LOL! There are 3 of them and this chubby one keeps doing that. I was wondering if he/she the baby ? - He flies well and actually got a grasshopper earlier but unfortunately it was too far to get a good shot (even with the 1.4TC - I need a 2X). Besides, it hard to shoot handheld standing on top of the trunk of the car too. :-)

That's a great pose with good eye contact, but it looks more like a Cassin's kingbird to me.

Nice!  But can you hand hold the 500 with a 2X?

Thanks Monte! I think you are correct since the bird is a bit chubbier and from my googling I found other pictures that's very much more the same as what I had seen last Saturday.

Thanks Dominick! I have never tried a 2X handheld since I don't have one but I shoot with the 1.4X all the time handheld (even at 1/250 at time). So, I don't think it's a problem; at most, it probably needs a bit higher SS. :-) - Last time I use a 2X series III someone loaned me I had used a tripod and it came out great though.
