snigam 0 Posted October 6, 2011 It is a beautiful fall scene. There is direct sunlight, so dark areas are losing detail. I tried to reduce the contrast and raise the shadows. The area on left opens up and more details are visible in the tree bark. Hope you find it interesting.Best... Sandeep Link to comment

alberta_pizzolato 21 Posted October 6, 2011 Beautiful image, Herman. I wouldn't change a thing. Everything in this lovely photo invites me to walk right into it. Well done!Sandeep - I don't think your version makes sense. The shadows are out of context with the amount of lightening that you did on the left side. And really, there's a bit of romance and mystery to the darkness there that helps tell this beautiful story so well. Each to his (or her) own :-)Cheers ~Alberta Link to comment
snigam 0 Posted October 7, 2011 Alberta, I did not increase light on left side, I just reduced overall contrast. It entirely depends on the curve you are using (in camera or with raw file). If you use linear curve, you will get more details but lower contrast. If you were standing there and looking at left side, you will see green leaves, not dark area. Our eyes adjust easily to variation in light. Of course, it is personal preference how much contrast you like in an image.Best... Sandeep Link to comment
