This Silversword plant is said to be unique to Maui, an island in the Hawaiian

chain. It grows in one place, the 10,000+ foot mountain, Haleakala. The plant

has adapted to the environment by growing tiny hairs that deflect the sun's

intense UV rays. These hairs give the Silversword it's "silver" appearance.

This particular one was photographed after a cold rain, where the water crystallized on it giving the icy, bumpy appearance. Enjoy! Aloha.

Indeed this is a unique plant and the ice formations has made even more unique and appealing, you have well exposed this sense to the light while the effect of the close up process has also brought out all of the fine details and the original colors which are are of a great credit to this image and its well thought off composition.

Thank you for sharing it and wishing you all of the best.

Dominick,  like your image, but like even more so your wee story explaining the history and location of this beautiful plant.  this would be the main reason for spending the ridiculous amount of time on this site as i do.
