Sierra - Sundown

harrylichtman

I recently returned from my 1st backcountry visit to the Sierra. Recommended by a friend, I hiked into Dusy Basin which easily accessable and hold spectacular scenery. Earlier this evening, rain and hail dimmed my hopes of evening photos. Luckily, I was wrong and spectacular lighting prevailed, along with th formation of mammatus clouds. This was only the start of some crazy light and clouds over the Eastern Sierra high peaks. 2 images were manually blended for dynamic range, and cropped slightly to this format.

My 1st venture in to the Sierra backcountry was rewarded with some

great light 2 evenings in a row. This is the first of some crazy light

and clouds over Dusy Basin in the eastern Sierra. Your impressions

welcome.

A beautifully captured landscape. Well exposed, well composed, and excellent site selection. Definitely a wall hanger.

I love the colors and sun light on the rocks but it those angry clouds and the reflection in that pool of water that make this photo work for me.

Harry,

So wide panorama take my attention.  I see 2 photos in 1: one for just the 4 peaks, and another one for the one on the right side.  I find too brighted the 3 central peaks.  Maybe a bright down on the upper third should work well IMHO.  And, the cut of white-blue on the upper left side, it's the filter or just the sun coming hard to here?  Nice compo.  6/7.

Very beautiful landscape capture of remarkable exposure value and amazing very effective DOF as the details obtained are of very fine nature all over this amazing place, the reflections in the water is of very creative effect to this image and so well enhancing its well thought off composition.

Thank you for sharing it and wishing you all of the best.
