robertbrown 1 Posted April 16, 2003 Comments, ratings, suggestions appreciated on this black and white landscape. I'm especially concerned about lighting and composition. This shot was converted from a color sky. I have a bunch of similar shots on black and white film that I'll be working on in the wet darkroom. Overall, I was fairly happy with this, but would value your suggestions. Thanks. Link to comment
kevin_kolosky 2 Posted April 16, 2003 too harsh and unnatural looking with that black sky. Link to comment

rmi 0 Posted April 17, 2003 The correct name for this location is: Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument http://www.recreation.gov/detail.cfm?ID=(3118) I agree that the black sky and the extreme contrast detract from the composition. Why not keep the intense blue sky that graces this area naturally(so blue that polarizers are usually not needed)? Link to comment
psychophoto 0 Posted April 17, 2003 Excellent subject, but the composition feels awkward - as if one, as the viewer, expects that he is about to fall over backwards. Just seems off balance to me. It definitely has possibilities, though, and is worth exploration. Perhaps a little creative cropping could strengthen the image. Link to comment
scott_esposito 0 Posted April 20, 2003 This is nice, but there's no sense of scale. Also I think more sky would be better. Link to comment
t_michael_turner 0 Posted April 21, 2003 I agree about the absence of a sense of scale. I'm an expert on this since I have dozens of my own. What suggestions re fixing this problem??? Link to comment
